Rebates & Financial Assistance
If you are experiencing financial hardship, you may be eligible to access our therapy services at no charge (through bulk billing). Rebates are available through Medicare and Private Health Insurance. If you are eligible for a Medicare Rebate, it will substantially reduce your out-of-pocket expense per session. For your convenience, our practice offers EFTPOS and Medicare Easyclaim facilities for payments. With Medicare Easyclaim your Medicare Rebate can be directed into your Cheque or Savings Account, so that you will not need to go to a Medicare Office.
Medicare offers rebates for Australian permanent residents and citizens who visit their Psychologist. You do need however, to first visit your General Practitioner (GP) and explain your mental health concerns and obtain a referral. Your GP will give you a referral called a “Mental Health Care Plan”, along with a letter of referral, which entitles you to Medicare rebates. All you need to do is bring these two documents to your first consultation with us and we will organise the rest. You are entitled up to 10 sessions in a calendar year (i.e. from January to December).
Private Health Rebates
A substantial proportion of your consultation fee may be reclaimed through private health fund. If you would like to know the amount of rebate you are entitled to, you will need to contact your respective health fund. Kindly note that if you will not be able to make a claim through your private health fund if you have already obtained a Medicare rebate for a particular appointment.
If you are in difficult financial circumstances and cannot afford to pay for services, you may be eligible for bulk billing which means you do not have any out-of-pocket expenses for our services. This is however, on a case-by-case basis and we will need to ascertain your financial circumstances before deciding if bulk billing is applicable.
